Matthew Williams

Matthew is a seasoned business leader with over 30 years of experience in CEO, COO, and VP roles, leading organizations across local, regional, and national markets. He has managed multiple service lines, diverse brands, and widespread teams in dynamic, fast-moving industries. Matthew’s hands-on approach, combined with his focus on operational efficiency, sales growth, and exceptional customer delivery, equips him to provide practical leadership grounded in real-world experience.

Originally from Wales, UK, Matthew worked in the UK and New Zealand before settling in Canada in 1995. Early in his career, he was a Technical Sales Representative during the boom of the London Docklands construction and renovation, gaining invaluable experience in a highly competitive market. Since becoming an Alberta resident in 1996 and subsequently a Canadian citizen, Matthew played a key role in scaling a regional staffing firm into Canada’s largest privately held staffing organization, generating $350 million in annual revenue and earning platinum membership in Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.

Matthew was  member of a TEC Canada CEO group for over 10 years (www.tec-canada.com), where he had the privilege of collaborating with fellow executives and business owners on real-time problem-solving while benefiting from access to world-class business speakers and thought leaders. Throughout this time, he witnessed member businesses turn around and transform through the power of collective wisdom and one-on-one coaching. Today, Matthew Chairs his own TEC CEO group, guiding leaders from diverse organizations.

Throughout his career, Matthew has led major rebranding efforts, organizational restructuring, corporate acquisitions, and integrations, and served as an executive sponsor for numerous enterprise system and technology projects. He also gained valuable experience reporting to a Board of Directors. Matthew combines a strong understanding of business strategy with the ability to engage across all organizational levels to translate strategy into effective action.

Certified as an Executive Coach in 2009 through Royal Roads University (accredited by the International Coach Federation), Matthew has refined his coaching expertise in both internal leadership roles and his independent coaching practice.

Matthew lives in the Calgary area with his wife, Alyson, and their three dogs—who have happily stepped in as “replacement kids” since their three adult children left the nest. In his spare time Matthew can usually be found on the soccer pitch with Villains O55 in the Calgary league, out on his motorcycle, playing golf, strumming a guitar, or running with the dogs.

In my capacity as a Certified Executive Coach, I support senior leaders in refining decision-making, deepening their leadership presence, and expanding personal growth. As Chair of Peer Advisory Groups, I cultivate confidential environments where business leaders engage in collective problem-solving, meaningful reflection, and shared learning.
